Long-tailed duck are migratory marine ducks that are gregarious and are often found in large flocks off sea coasts. They breed in the Arctic tundra and are found along northern European coasts from Russia through to northern Britain.
Long-tailed duck fly low over the water and dive for molluscs and other animals, which are their main food. The Long-tailed drake is a distinctive white duck with black and grey markings and a very long tail.
This Long-tailed drake is sculpted from lime tinted with chinese ink stick and finished with wax. It is 14 cm (approx. 5.5") in length and is signed by the artist.
